So Long, Summer!

Whew, it's been a while!  I would apologize, but vacation will always take precedence over blogging.

We spent a week at Lake Burton, a vacation that my family has been taking since I was literally an infant.  We hike, eat, read, boat, read, and eat.  It's amazingly relaxing and the amount of card playing we do is astronomical.  Our game of choice this year?  Spades.

We are like, really into the Olympics.  It's like we've miraculously become experts on everything from ping pong to men's gymnastics.  To celebrate Danny Boyle's outstanding opening ceremony, we had some salty snacks and invited a few friends to celebrate.

Olive tray, bruschetta, and roasted chickpeas.

Did y'all watch the Opening Ceremony?  I was overwhelmed and amazed.  Also overwhelming?  Jordyn Wieber's sad face.

After dying over Rowan Atkinson's groundbreaking synth performance, we packed up and headed to Raleigh.  We ate too much food, relaxed, watched the Olympics, and took Josh's grandparents to a hibachi steakhouse called Fuji.  It.  Was.  Hilarious.

We also made a quick trip to the North Carolina State Museum of Natural Sciences.  Why?  DINOSAURS.

Sadly, next week begins our last week of summer vacation.  That's right...our.  Josh is Carnesville Elementary School's newest employee!  He'll be working in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade in Supportive Instruction.  In January, he'll begin his teacher certification program.  Josh's ultimate goal is to become a co-teacher at the high school level.  We are so thankful for this new opportunity and we feel blessed that we'll be operating on the same schedule throughout the year.
